About Us

The Fitness Superstore was established in 1979 – the dawn of the specialty fitness industry. Originally Exercise Equipment of New Mexico, many customers still have equipment with labels showing this name. The founder’s son bought the business in 1992 after a career as a Nuclear Engineer which included stays with Los Alamos National Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratory and Science Applications International Corp.

The Fitness Superstore was born of necessity when the business opened operations in El Paso in 1994. It was a name change that reflects the uniqueness of this business. The Fitness Superstore has the largest specialty fitness showrooms and the largest product selection of any fitness stores in the country.
